About

Welcome to The Floating Log

This technical log was started in early 2015, when I decided to start documenting the technical aspects of my boating hobby (actually more like a fishing addiction I can’t kick), for the boating community’s reference.

When I first started this journey, there was so much confusion, discussion, and indecision, Kayak? Inflatable? Charter?

More discussion, more confusion. Dreams, rationale thought, irrational desires, concerns, more thinking….

Finally, I decided on going ultralight. A folding boat, a kicker motor, some rivets and bits and pieces, and a dream came about. Nothing fancy, but just a simple, collapse-it-and-hide-it contraption that could stay out of the way until needed. At a manageable cost.

The Floating Log remains a personal “hobby”, with the sole purpose of returning to the angling / boating community technical information and perspectives gained. After all, I would have never made it pass the surf if not for the information and experiences shared by the larger community.

May the journey never end….

Fair winds

Thanks for visiting, and it is the ongoing aim of this blog to continue returning to the community technical information and perspectives gained.

    Fair winds!
